Do your staff need to apply to remain in the UK after June?
The deadline for applying to the EU Settlement Scheme is drawing closer.
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens have until the 30th June 2021 to apply to the scheme, which is vital in order to remain in the UK.
It’s really important (though, it is important to add, not a legal obligation) that you help to make staff aware of the need to apply and encourage them so that they can continue living the life they have built in the UK and continue doing great work for your organisation!
How can I support my staff in their EU Settlement Scheme application?
1. Make sure to remind them of the upcoming deadline: A reminder to all the relevant staff members would be really useful, however bear in mind that they don’t need to tell you when they have applied and you should not ask them what the outcome is.
2. Communicate with them in their language: We all know that things get lost in translation sometimes, and you may want to remind staff about the scheme in their native language. This is where Clear Voice can help. You can put together an email or other staff update, and we can translate it into the languages you require.
3. Point them in the direction of further support: Vulnerable EU citizens can contact our parent charity, Migrant Help, for support with their applications.
Once they have applied to the scheme…
After your staff have applied to the scheme, it may be that they need to view their immigration status. These guides, produced by Migrant Help and translated by Clear Voice, will walk your staff through viewing and proving their immigration status.
