We’ve joined the ITI

Why we joined the ITI featured image

We recently joined the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI), the UK’s only professional institute dedicated to supporting translators and interpreters. Becoming a member of the ITI gives us access to training opportunities to strengthen our portfolio of skills and sector support through regional and language networks. Investing in our organisation and the linguists that work with us in this way enables us to positively contribute to the sector by sharing best practice with our industry colleagues. It also gives us a seat at the table for discussions about the promotion and development of our rapidly evolving sector.

Having been established over ten years ago, Clear Voice has seen massive growth in the last five years mainly through our relationship with our parent charity, Migrant Help. We anticipate this growth will continue and so recognised the need to join an organisation such as the ITI to enhance our reputation within the industry. We believe that by being members of this globally respected body, we are demonstrating to current and future customers that we take our responsibilities seriously. We also understand that by belonging to a professional body such as ITI we will attract quality linguists to partner with us.

As a social enterprise, gift aiding all our profit back to Migrant Help, Clear Voice is the right choice for organisations large and small that like to spend their money ethically. We attract customers from the volunteer and charity sectors as using our services satisfies their corporate and social responsibility aims. This is something that sets Clear Voice apart from other interpreting and translation companies and we are proud of that.

We are also proud of the fact that we pay our linguists higher rates than the industry standard, many of our interpreters have been with us a number of years. A large proportion has firsthand experience of the asylum process having been through it themselves, this means our customers often request specific interpreters for their assignments ensuring continuity of service.

The interpreting and translation industries are highly competitive and at Clear Voice, we want to do all we can to improve our offer to current clients and attract new clients.

We already had in place robust procedures around recruitment, quality assurance, complaints and customer feedback. Becoming a member of the institute was the next step in ensuring we are giving the best examples of our professional integrity to our stakeholders.
