Our Interpreter of the Month project celebrates the hard work and achievements of our interpreters. This month’s winner is Forough! The whole Clear Voice team send their thanks for all of your hard work. We were honoured to speak to Forough about her experience, how she finds interpreting, and how she recharges during a busy week…

Before Clear Voice

I have worked as an interpreter, a language teacher and an immigration consultant throughout my career before I started working for Clear Voice in the autumn of 2021.

I completed my master’s degree in Political Science in Iran where I worked as an editor of political magazines for a few years. I came to the UK over 20 years ago. I had a plan to do further study and training, but I got married and my path has changed since!

Busy, Busy, Busy

As well as interpreting, I am a language teacher and lecturer, working for different organizations. Since the start of the pandemic, most of my work has been virtual and I have not been to my office much.

I have a very busy life and juggling a few different jobs on my timetable. I get lots of satisfaction from what I am doing. I like what I am doing and enjoy it.

Interpreting and Recharging

Interpreting requires a great amount of attention and language knowledge. It can be very tiring – especially when you do consecutive or simultaneous interpretation. There are lots of pressures on the voice as you can be talking for hours! I try religiously going to the gym 5 days per week to unwind and I de-stress by doing kickboxing and long-distance swimming. It is very important to keep active as a source of recharging the brain.
